This kit is aimed at kids aged from 10 up. It contains a full colour Instruction Manual and materials to complete five unique projects and 20 experiments including: bending a light guide, fluorescence, Tyndall’s Light In Water experiment, Fibre Optic Lighting, Art of Polishing Glass and making an Image Conduit. Includes penlight, light hood, six different optical fibres, Ulexite image transferring rock (TV Stone), three coherent fibre optic components, colour gel filters, star/constellation map, polishing film etc.

Comprises a bundle of many unjacketed fibres useful for exotic lighting and demonstrations. Multi fibres are used because of the smaller bend radius of the individual fibres compared to a large single fibre. Strands are 245µm dia. polymethyl methacrylate core with a 10µm cladding layer of fluorinated polymer.

A test instrument for testing fibre optic cable continuity, measuring fibre output power, calibrating and screening detectors, and measuring fibre attenuation. Uses a silicon photodetector which is calibrated at the two most commonly used wavelengths: 660(red) and 850(infrared) nanometres. Results are displayed on the 3.5 digit LCD screen. Four switched power ranges: 20µW, 200µW, 2mW and 20mW. Includes a 660nm LED for attenuation measurements. The detector and LED are mounted in standard ST® female input connectors which permit use with any plastic fibre in an ST® male connector or connector-less fibre with an outer diameter of 2.5mm or less. Inexpensive enough for classroom use yet with the range and features for industrial use.
