This new edition marks the 10th anniversary of the release of the original Fuel Cell Car & Experiment Kit from Thames and Kosmos. With a completely redesigned body, rewritten manual and new display stand, the Fuel Cell Car kit is better than ever! It covers the same topics of electrolysis, solar cells, fuel cells and includes parts and experiments that are similar to those included in the original edition.
Use the kit to build a small car powered by either the included solar cell or fuel cell and learn how they work.
In operation the solar cell powers the fuel cell to quickly break down distilled water into hydrogen and oxygen. Once enough gas has been produced the solar cell is disconnected and the fuel cell is connected to the car's electric motor. Electricity is immediately produced from the recombination of the hydrogen and oxygen. The 64 page manual describes how fuel cells work and includes 30 experiments that use the included digital multimeter to work out voltages, currents, solar cell power, motor and fuel cell efficiency.
