IEC Tangent Galvanometer Aluminium

The IEC Tangent Galvanometer is an old PSSC teaching system design. Assembled from the parts supplied, it is a kit consisting of a flat aluminium plate held horizontally with a large coil of wire wound in the space around it. The all aluminium construction ensures there can be no magnetic interference.
With a magnetic compass placed on the plate, a DC current is passed through the coil to cause an interference between the earth's magnetic field and the field of the coil.
