A quality IEC diffraction grating of 1000 lines per mm created as a holograph and providing clear and bright diffraction patterns. The film is mounted in the form of a 35mm slide and does not have protection for the film.
Diffraction gratings are used in optical experiments to break light up into its constituent colours in a similar manner to a glass prism. The wavelength of the light can be calculated if the grating line pitch is known together with the deviation angle the light takes when passing through the grating.
