Solar Power and Energy Transformation KitOrder code: SC7250
| Purchase QTY: (Each) | 1+ | | | | | | Scientrific's price | $18.00 | | | |
| Note: Prices do NOT include GST or freight An economic and engaging kit for students to examine how a solar cell can be used to power three different devices and see the conversion of light energy into into electrical energy which is then converted into:
Mechanical energy: ... to run a fan and to push air from one place to another
Mechanical energy: ... to vibrate a piece of material so it produces sound energy
Heat energy: ... to make a light globe filament so hot that it gives out light
The kit consists of the following components:
• Solar cell rated at about 1.5 Volt and 400 mA under direct sunlight
• Electric motor specially designed to run at very low voltage
• Plastic fan to fit to the motor
• Lamp socket and lamp of the correct rating to glow when 1 volt is applied
• Buzzer, suitable for very low voltage operation
• Pair of connection cables with alligator clips at each end
• A clear plastic storage jar with screw-on lid
• An information and instruction sheet
The novel strong transparent jar is very robust and easily stored. The jar also makes it easy to see if any parts have been lost.
All kit parts are available as spares. Last edited 14th May 2019 This product is used in teaching these Australian Curriculum codes:
