The best educational solar energy kit and also the most economical kit that we've stocked.
Eight separate solar cells are mounted in a sturdy plastic frame, each cell can be connected to adjoining cells using sturdy metal links to increase either current or voltage. Plastic tools are supplied to help make the connections and to fit an electric motor in a support column for mounting either on the supplied base or on the solar panel itself. Wires that are pre-attached to the motor are used to connect the motor to the solar cell. To make the motor's rotation visible a plastic fan blade can be fitted to the motor.
The included user manual is brilliant - it describes how a solar cell works in detail and clearly shows how to use the connecting links to create the best series or parallel circuits to power different types of equipment.
The kit is supplied in a sturdy and re-usable cardboard box.
A separate instruction sheet describes how to use the solar cells to power other components like buzzers, light emitting diodes (LEDs) or even a torch-bulb mounted in a suitable lamp-holder. A kit of these additional components is available separately.
This kit replaces Solar Energy Kit SC5240.
